GAO Releases Coastal Zone Management Report
The United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released a report entitled, "Coastal Zone Management: Measuring Program's Effectiveness Continues to Be a Challenge." This report covers three major areas of coastal zone management: 1) the methodology for awarding CZMA grants to states; 2) the extent to which NOAA has processes for ensuring that grants are used in a manner that is consistent with the CZMA; and 3) the extent to which state program evaluations and performance measurement systems enable the agency to assess the effectiveness of the National Coastal Zone Management Program. Senator Obama Supports CZMA Reathorization
Science Debate 2008 recently questioned the presidential candidates on the future of science and the environment in America. CSO Climate Change Report 2008
The CSO Climate Change Work Group has released a second annual report on climate change, "The Role of Coastal Zone Management Programs in Adaptation to Climate Change." The report includes detailed results of a 2008 adaptation survey designed to obtain up to date information on the status of adaptation planning, priority information needs, and the anticipated resource needs of the coastal states, commonwealths, and territories.
