First published by the CSO in 1990, the treatise was developed with the assistance of state coastal managers, and the CSO Legal Council comprised of coastal resource attorneys from throughout the nation. Putting the Public Trust Doctrine to Work, 2nd Edition includes:

  • a comprehensive survey of state statutes, regulations and cases regarding public rights in shorelands
  • a thorough analysis of Public Trust issues
  • practical insights for the design of coastal resource programs
  • litigating Public Trust issues

The book is extensively footnoted with supporting authorities. The second edition of Putting the Public Trust Doctrine to Work substantially updates and revises the treatise. The book contains new sections on:
