The Georgia Coastal Management Program (GCMP) is partnering with the Georgia Sea Grant Program to produce a Community Resilience Planning Guide that will include model ordinance language and guidance to increase Community Rating System (CRS) credit. A cost-benefit analysis was completed by University of Georgia in 2016, which assessed barriers to community participation in the CRS. This report informed the Program partners about efforts put forth to encourage communities to participate or advance in the CRS, including the use of tools and resources to address resilience. For example, Georgia has been using the online Georgia Floodplain Map Program to display DFIRM maps and help communities understand their current flood risk and address risk through mitigation efforts.
