Maine CRS Highlights

The Maine Coastal Program supports community CRS participation though technical assistance and informational resources such as the through the Maine Flood Resilience Checklist. This tool helps communities assess their vulnerability to current and future flood hazards, evaluate preparedness for flood events, and gauge the resilience of their social, natural, and physical systems. The tool includes a manual that lists activities that can earn CRS credits, and suggestions on facilitating a discussion process. Maine CZM also conducts education and outreach efforts to increase awareness of CRS and provides guidance materials to simplify and support the application process. The Coastal Program also participates on the Maine Silver Jackets team on nonstructural flood mitigation and education projects such as a recent project to develop High Water Mark (HWM) signs, which provided CRS communities public outreach support and CRS credit.
