Georgia CRS Highlights

The Georgia Coastal Management Program (GCMP) is partnering with the Georgia Sea Grant Program to produce a Community Resilience Planning Guide that will include model ordinance language and guidance to increase Community Rating System (CRS) credit. A cost-benefit analysis was completed by University of Georgia in 2016, which assessed barriers to community participation in the CRS. This report identified strategies for promoting community participation and advancement in the CRS, including the tools and resources to address resilience – such as the Georgia Floodplain Map Program, which helps communities access FEMA flood mapping information and understand their flood risk.
